| Ken Myers has been recording electronic music since 1985, and is visible in many online independent artist music circles. His music is an aural tapestry of exotic soundscapes, designed for relaxation,stress reduction,and entertainment. Initially a producer of R&B tunes, smooth jazz pieces and cinematic orchestral works, Ken's versatility defines his musical style. "I refuse to be confined to one particular genre of music" He says."For that, I create soundscapes that are geared primary for film scoring, and also as visual artistry as interpreted by the listener. My true love of all kinds of music enables me to discover new avenues of composition, not limited by whatever's popular at the time." Using a combination of midi composing, acoustic instruments and audio, his compositions have been called both refreshing and bold in their originality ( Aug.1990, CWRU Observer). "Being self taught in the approach to the piano and developing electronic sound textures by experiment is partly how I work. Like many composing musicians I am still studying new ways, new techniques.Being self taught allows for an artist not to be inhibited. You tend not to be afraid to try new things." Ken also spends many hours listening to other artists whose work he admires and respect including Thomas Newman, Tim Story, John Williams, Debussy, Erik Satie, Gerald Finzi and The electronic pioneers Tangerine Dream. Ken Myers' first release was a limited edition cassette entitled "Deep Visions" in 1990. It was distributed only locally in his hometown Cleveland, Ohio. His new release, "Still Life" is distributed online through CdBaby, Rhapsody, iTunes,Napster,Target,Amazon and several other outlets. "Still Life" features 12 tracks of instrumental music that Ken constructed in 2006 while recovering from a near fatal bout of colon cancer. There is an MP3 compilation of music by Ken sold at the independent artist community website Music Freedom.com, which includes music showcased on his MySpace.com page. His composition, "Eastern Promise" is charted at FishtheMusic.com, a popular Japanese based web radio spot. Ken Myers was born 1952 and still resides in the rock n roll hall of fame city of Cleveland,Ohio. |
